Johanna Ouwerling - Open Arms – My Trips – 2004/2005
Here is Part 2 of my "Open Arms" trips in 2004/2005.
This one is to Leipzig where Tina Turner would perform in the ZDF show "Wetten Dass".
It was at the 13th of November 2004.
Already for weeks I tried to get tickets for the show.
I emailed a lot of people, also in Leipzig and also tried to win some tickets through the ZDF, the German TV station. But no luck.
Then in the last week before the show I tried to get tickets through Ebay, the auction site, but the prices went up till 500-600 Euro (about 600 Dollar) for 2 tickets and I would not pay that.
So with pain in my heart I had to let go the idea of going to Leipzig. But fate had decided otherwise.
On friday the 12th of November, the day before the show, at 1 pm I got an email from Mrs. Weise of the Ticketservice in Leipzig.
She had tickets for me!!!! And asked me to call her rightaway.
I did of course and it turned out there were some tickets left and she immediately had thought of me. Fantastic of course!!
I could come and collect them the next day. I thanked her and called my friend Renate with this great news.
Now we had to pack very quickly, because in 3 hours our train would leave and I also had to get the tickets before that.
Renate called the hotel. I already had found the NH Tagungshotel and luckily they still had 2 rooms for us.
So we met at the station and at 4.15 pm we left for Leipzig.
At 10.45 pm we arrived at Leipzig. We had to take a tram to the hotel and as we were searching for the direction, who were there?
Four other Tina fans, called Manuela, Andreas, Karen and Birgit. They recognised us from my website and guess what? They also stayed in the same hotel.
And it turned out that Manuela had won a contest and she and Andreas were going to meet Tina the next day!.
Fantastic of course. I get their reviews and photos later and tell you more about it then. I hope one day I can meet Tina too!!!!
So we went to the hotel together. There in my room I tried to connect my laptop to the internet, but after several hours still no go. Bummer.
I went to sleep much too late and that was stupid, because the next day I was tired and had a headache.
But it was the day we were going to see Tina in action, so after breakfast we went to the city center to collect our tickets.
Mrs. Weise was very nice and I thanked her abundantly for these tickets and her generous attitude and gave her some nice flowers.
She was a long time fan of Rex Gildo and understood very well, that we wanted to see Tina. That is why she helped me to get these tickets. Wonderful lady!
Then we went looking for a hotel where Tina might stay, but no luck so we went for some hot drinks, because it was pretty cold!
Then we went back to the hotel. We rested a bit, went to the sauna, which was very nice and after dinner we went to the Neue Messegelände where the show would be. We were very excited!
At 8.15 pm the show started. We were in the 3th row, which was very good, but to the side, but we could see everything ok and I could take photos easily.
Tina came on stage at 8.50 pm. Fantastic. The crowd applauded and yelled. Great!
Her performance was great and I also loved it, that she was standing instead of sitting. She enjoyed it also very much I think. She looked happy!
It was unfortunately only "Open Arms" that she performed.
Here you can see the performance!! Thanks Morgan!!!
The decor was also great! The show went on till 10.45 pm and there were lots of great artists, like Destiny Child (with a young Beyonce), Seal, Elton John etc.
After the show I was very tired.
We ran into Mrs. Weise again, which was very nice and then we went back to the hotel and I went to bed. What a day!!
The next day after breakfast and after a rerun of the program on TV we went home.
It was a great journey and I thank everybody that helped me to make this trip, especially Mrs. Weise and Renate!
The next part is about my 3rd trip that goes to Zürich for the Benissimo Show. Great trip and memories!
