1993 - Disco Inferno 7 Inch Single

"Disco Inferno" is a single from Tina Turner's album "What’s Love Got To Do With It?".
It’s a cover song. The single was released by The Trammps in 1976, and became their anthem. It became a success for them after the single was included on the soundtrack album of "Saturday Night Fever". The song was written by Leroy Green and Ron Kersey.

The song became a huge hit over the world. You heard "Disco Inferno" everywhere, in every discotheque or store. Also Tina was no stranger to this song. Tina covered the song in her live shows late 70’s. Tina put together a Vegas Cabaret show wearing different (sexy) costumes and dresses, and also covered a lot of hit songs during that period. She was a burning sensation during this period. Here we have a small video of Tina singing and performing "Disco Inferno" in the late 70’s in a black bodystocking.

After Tina’s life story movie was released in 1993, Tina recorded "Disco Inferno" and it was released as the 2nd single of the movie soundtrack album "What’s Love Got To Do With It". Angela Basset plays Tina in the movie and they used "Disco Inferno" as the first solo performance after she broke up with her former husband Ike. "Disco Inferno" is a classic disco/soul song about a metaphor for the musical heat on the dancefloor which was called a raging fire. However the refrain "Burn Baby Burn" was also a phrase chanted at the Watts Riots in 1965 as fire rages throughout the Los Angeles neighbourhood.

Tina Shot a video for "Disco Inferno" and it shows clips of the movie and a live on stage performance. We have never seen footage of Tina performing this song in tv shows, but we do happen to know that she performed the song live at some venues during the What’s Love Live Tour 1993/1994.

"Disco Inferno" was released in different formats such as 7" single, 12" single, cd single and cassette.
The B-side was "I Don't Wanna Fight" (Single Edit).

There were also a few Remixes. These are listed below here. And of course a video of the Rock America Remix.
"Disco Inferno" (Album Version) – 4:03
"I Don't Wanna Fight" (Single Edit) – 4:25
"Disco Inferno" (12" Version) – 5:33
"Disco Inferno" (12" Dub) – 6:57

Album: What's love got to do with it - 1993

To my surprise one hundred stories high
People getting loose now, getting down on the roof
Folks screaming, out of control
It was so entertaining when the boogie starts to explode

[Chorus:]
I heard somebody say
(Burn baby burn) Disco Inferno (Burn baby burn)
Burn that mother down
(Burn baby burn) Disco Inferno (Burn baby burn)
Burn that mother down

Satisfaction came in a chain reaction
I couldn't get enough, so I had to self-destruct
The heat was on, rising to the top
Everybody is going strong, and that is when my spark got hot
I heard somebody say
(Burn baby burn) Disco Inferno (Burn baby burn)
Burn that mother down
(Burn baby burn) Disco Inferno (Burn baby burn)
Burn that mother down

Up above my head
I hear music in the air (I hear music)
That makes me know
There's a party somewhere

(Just can't stop) When my spark gets hot
(Just can't stop) When my spark gets hot

I don't wanna fight

Album: What's love got to do with it - 1993

There's a pale moon in the sky
The kind you make your wishes on
Like the light in your eyes
The one I built my dreams upon
It's not there any longer
Something happened somewhere
And we both know why
But me, I'm getting stronger
We must stop pretending
I can't live this life

I don't care who's wrong or right
I don't really wanna fight no more
(Too much talking babe)
Let's sleep on it tonight
I don't really wanna fight no more
(This is time for letting go)

I hear a whisper in the air
It simply doesn't bother me
Can't you see that I don't care
Or are you you looking right through me
Seems to me that lately
You look at me the wrong way and I start to cry
Could it be that maybe
This crazy situation is the reason why

I don't care who's wrong or right
I don't really wanna fight no more
(Too much talking babe)
Let's sleep on it tonight
I don't really wanna fight no more
(Tired of all these games)

But baby don't you know
That I don't wanna hurt no more
(It's time, I'm walking babe)
Don't care now who's to blame
I don't really wanna fight no more
(This is time for letting go)

Hanging on to the past
It only stands in our way
We had to grow for our love to last
But we just grew apart

No, I don't wanna hurt no more
But baby don't you know
No I don't wanna hurt no more
(Too much talking babe)
Don't care now who's to blame
I don't really wanna fight no more
(Tired of all these games)
I don't care who's wrong or right
I don't really wanna fight no more
(It's time, I'm walking babe)
So let's sleep on it tonight
I don't really wanna fight no more
(This is time for letting go)
